Some barristers will accept what are called ‘direct access’ instructions which means that you can instruct them yourself, directly, without going through a solicitor which can make the process cheaper. Barristers will charge differing amounts depending on their experience and the clerks at the chambers are the ones who can give you charging information and who can explain how the process works.
