support@Court
Support@Court is an outreach service provided by ARU Law School Law Clinic to assist people with a hearing about a family law matter but no lawyer to represent them. Support@Court runs every Wednesday at the Cambridge Magistrates’ Court from 9.30am until 1pm.
The service is first come, first served so it is advisable to arrive early if you would like support from the team.
The team is made up of volunteers who cannot give legal advice but they can provide you with information, guidance, moral support and they can help you organise your paperwork before going in to your hearing. Students can also continue supporting you and can take notes during the hearing if you would like them to go in the courtroom with you. However, they cannot address the magistrates on your behalf during the hearing.
Be aware that this service is available to everyone who does not have a solicitor or barrister to speak for them. This might mean that the other person involved in your case also has support from the team but they will not speak to each other about the case and will remain separate until the end of your hearing.
All services are provided on a strictly confidential basis.
